Southern Cal & Rockwell City-Lytton Sharing Presentation on December 22

The Rockwell City-Lytton Community School District is located in central and west-central Calhoun County and northeast Sac County. The district covers 205 square miles and serves a population of 460 students from the Rockwell City, Lytton, Jolley, and Twin Lakes communities.  The school district is centrally located between the three larger communities of Fort Dodge, Carroll and Storm Lake and is within a easy driving distance of the major cities of Sioux City and Des Moines.  Students attend either the preschool-6th grade building or the 7th-12th grade building, both located in the town of Rockwell City.

The district is served by Prairie Lakes Area Education Association and has partnerships with Iowa Central Community College, Pomeroy-Palmer, Southern Cal, and Manson Northwest Webster to provide enhanced educational opportunities for students.

RC-L Schools have a history of excellence.  There are five teachers who have achieved the very prestigious National Certification.  Student achievement exceeds the state trajectories.

The RC-L School District is also committed to on-going improvements.  Professional development efforts are focused on implementation of the Iowa Core Curriculum in order to improve teaching and increase student learning.
